About Michael Kohn

Quick Summary

Well, since I keep getting confused with some olympic bobsledder of the same name, I decided to put up a little page about myself so people would know I'm not him. For those of you who aren't convinced, trust me, I'm way too much of a wuss to be a bobsledder. Infact, I'm too much of a wuss to even ride in a Fisher Price sled. So anyway, if you did find my web page by doing a search for "Michael Kohn" or "Mike Kohn", and the following text convinces you that you did know me from the past, send me an email, it would be cool to hear from people I lost contact with :).

So anyway, I was born on May 29, 1974 in Hartford, Connecticut (that's in the USA for anyone who doesn't know their geography). Anyway, after I was about 1 years old my family moved to Cleveland, Ohio and I decided to follow. Errr, I guess I had no choice but to follow. I lived in Cleveland until I was 10, and then moved to Bozeman, Montana. After living in Montana for 5 years, I moved to St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 15. For some reason I've been living here ever since.

Hobbies

Computers: I've been programming computers since I was 8 years old. My parents bought a Commodore 64 for the family so I started with that. My father got me started teaching me simple Commodore 64 BASIC and my brother who had also been learning helped me out a lot. The rest I learned from reading a book. When I was 11 years old my father taught me machine language/assembly language. When I was 13 I got a Commodore Amiga 500 and learned C by reading a book and learned 68000 assmebly language. In college I learned the two most useful languages ever: Pascal and Cobol. Okay, just kidding about those languages being useful, but I did learn them along with lots of other fun languages :).

When I was 10 years old I got an electronics kit and learned a lot about building circuits. Well, just enough to build simple circuits. Since my dad is an electrical engineer, I count on him when I need to do anything semi-complex... altho, if I ask too much I usually get the same ol' "You don't know what you're doing! You need to go to school and get a 4 year degree in electrical engineering to do this." speech. Well he's probably right, but either way I was still able to get a PIC Micro to control an R/C plane servo for my picarus project so I must be doing something right :).

Music: If you'd like to hear me play guitar and see pictures of my guitars, visit my music page.

Politics I'm rooting for Barack Obama in 2008. Hillary Clinton is the most insincere politician I've ever seen my life. Barack Obama gets known in the media as the candidate for change and then she starts using the word "change" constantly to describe herself. During the debates Edwards gives a powerful sob story about his family and how the presidental run is personal for him (I do like Edwards btw) and after seeing how powerful the speech was, "this is personal" now for Hillary. She's like that annoying student in your highschool class that when asked to do a book report, instead of doing something interesting she hands out candy to try and get a good grade despite the book report is boring. She makes me sick. Anyway, Reagan is still my favorite president.

Sports My favorite sports to play are football, basketball, tennis, bike riding, and baseball.
